"Practical Solutions for Common Surgical Problems"
You are cordially invited to attend the fourth Surgical Update Conference hosted by the Department of Surgery at the University of Cape Town on Saturday 5th March and Sunday 6th March 2011 at the Kramer Building, UCT Middle Campus, Rondebosch Cape Town.
An outstanding two-day programme has been planned emphasising common problems applicable to General Surgeons, General practitioners with a surgical interest, Medical Officers and Registrars. A number of invited visiting speakers will also be giving talks.
Some of the topics to be covered will include:

- Recurrent Varicose Veins – unravelling and managing the culprit causes
The faculty will comprise consultants from the Department of Surgery, University of Cape Town as well as invited visitors.

Laparoscopic Workshop
In addition, a laparoscopic workshop is planned for the 4th of March 2011 at Groote Schuur Hospital. This workshop will comprise both didactic lectures as well as demonstration cases performed by experts and will cover 4 commonly performed laparoscopic procedures including: laparoscopic cholecystectomy, fundoplication, colonic mobilisation/resection and hernia repair. Registration and fees for the workshop will be separate from the update congress.
